ANNUAL MEETING of the DUNN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The 2023 Annual Meeting of the Dunn County Historical Society took place at the Dunn County Museum, located at 153 Museum Trail in Dunn Center, beginning at 2PM MT on Sunday Oct. 29, 2023.  The business meeting included the election of two directors, each for a three-year term.  Ballots were mailed to members or could be completed in person prior to the start of the meeting.  Several new members joined; more are always welcome!  Full agenda is posted on this website; please see the “Home” page and click on the button for “2023 Annual Meeting Notices”.  Reports are also be posted on that same “Notices” page and will be available to read for several months following the meeting.

Members of David Watkins’ family attended for the special recognition given for his many years of expertise and commitment to the museum prior to his passing in May 2023.  President Sue Powers Hartman read a list of Board and Museum Committee members, and staff, thanking them for their work.  A plaque was given to Cathy Trampe for her service as Museum Committee chair.  A recognition will take place at a later date for Barb Fridley, honoring her for many years as Board of Director’s Secretary.  Date will be posted on this website when set.  Refreshments were served after the business meeting and attendees enjoyed having Aaron Olson demonstrate his antique player piano that is on display in the Western Room.

Following this, there was a “Trunk or Treat” event for local children, moved into the Meeting Room since the weather was chilly outside!  More details are on the “Trunk or Treat” page of this website; you can reach that info from the “Home” page.

2022 ANNUAL MEETING RE-CAP:

The Annual Meeting for 2022 took place on a warm October afternoon, with approximately 25 people were in attendance, including some people via computer video and conference call.  James Perhus and Sue Powers Hartman were the top vote-getters in the election for the two open Board of Directors positions.  This will be Sue’s first full term as she filled a one-year vacancy last year.  It will be Jim’s first term on the Board; welcome!  It was great to see several people running for the vacant seats and we look forward to having the other people on the ballot join us in some other capacity if they are willing.  The Financial Reports and proposed budget were approved by the written ballots.  Bill Flaget was honored for his 16 years of service to DCHS, with President Doreen Pachl presenting him with a plaque, and a special cake was enjoyed at refreshment time.  After a break for goodies, David Watkins provided an informative look into the history of mail order catalogs; thanks, David!  We will hopefully soon have a transcript of his presentation available in the Meeting Room Library where his catalog collection is housed.  Thanks to everyone who turned out for the meeting and a special shout out to Jackie Garness for the baked goods she provided.  Thanks, too, to Shelley and Bill Flaget for being the “election officials”.
